DESCRIPTION:We are a group of people who have an interest in local and family history. We enjoy exploring aspects of the heritage of Holmfirth and the surrounding area. \nThe group meets at the Civic Holmfirth on the second Thursday of each month at 7.30 pm to 9pm except in December. \nWhat we do: – \n– We undertake research for both group and personal interest projects \n– We record findings \n– We work together to make our findings known by publishing books based on members’ research\, giving talks to other local groups including the Holme Valley Civic Society and the U3A\, mounting a stand at events of local or family history interest in the Huddersfield area. \n– We join with local and family history groups for events and projects \n– We visit archives \nInterested\, come along to our next meeting…. \nPlease Note: Clubs and classes are cancelled from time to time for holidays and other reasons\, so worth checking in advance if the session you’re interested in is taking place. \n

DESCRIPTION:The Temple Brothers (officially voted as the UKs No1 Everly Brothers tribute by the National Tribute Music Awards 2017)\, faithfully recreate the music and harmonies of one of the greatest and best-loved duo’s of all time – The Everly Brothers.  Just like Don and Phil Everly\, The Temple Brothers are real life brothers\, and that is why their voices blend so perfectly and sound uncannily like The Everly Brothers themselves. \nThe Show also stars Buddy Walker giving his awesome tribute to Buddy Holly and the talented Pete Gill’s amazing\, piano pumping tribute to Jerry Lee Lewis.  Backed by their all-star band\, the show will take you on a walk down memory lane with all the classic songs including Cathy’s Clown\, Walk Right Back\, Bird Dog\, All I Have to Do is Dream\, Let It Be Me\, Til I Kissed Ya\, Wake Up Little Suzie\, When Will I Be Loved\, Rave On\, True Love Ways\, Great Balls of Fire plus many many more… \nA spectacular two-hour show which captures the magic that these incredible performers brought to the world. \nDoors open at 6.30pm\, this is a fully seated event and seats are on a first come first served basis. Bar available throughout the evening. \nTickets cost £21.00 and are available in person or over the phone during office hours (Monday to Friday\, 9.30am to 2.30pm) with no commission payable or online via the ticket link (with a commission charge). \nAll proceeds from all events and activities contribute to the upkeep of The Civic\, most events will include a raffle and/or a bucket collection – with all donations gratefully received.
