DESCRIPTION:We are a group of people who have an interest in local and family history. We enjoy exploring aspects of the heritage of Holmfirth and the surrounding area. \nThe group meets at the Civic Holmfirth on the second Thursday of each month at 7.30 pm to 9pm except in December. \nWhat we do: – \n– We undertake research for both group and personal interest projects \n– We record findings \n– We work together to make our findings known by publishing books based on members’ research\, giving talks to other local groups including the Holme Valley Civic Society and the U3A\, mounting a stand at events of local or family history interest in the Huddersfield area. \n– We join with local and family history groups for events and projects \n– We visit archives \nInterested\, come along to our next meeting…. \nPlease Note: Clubs and classes are cancelled from time to time for holidays and other reasons\, so worth checking in advance if the session you’re interested in is taking place. \n

Some big news is sending the residents of Inishmaan into a frenzy – no\, it’s not about the sheep with no ears! BIG NEWS! \nCrippled Billy Claven sees an opportunity to escape his small town existence. An opportunity for acceptance and a better life. “Be careful what ye wish for…so…..dreams don’t always lead where we expect.” \nJoin us for Billy’s adventure\, wherever it leads.” \nDoors open at 6.45pm\, this is a fully seated event and seats are on a first come first served basis.  Bar available. \nTickets cost £10.00 and are available in person or over the phone during office hours (Monday to Friday\, 9.30am to 2.30pm) with no commission payable or online via the ticket link (with a commission charge). \n
